Lute Technology resettable fuse for overcurrent protection on sensors

With the widespread adoption of automated equipment, the demand for precision in counting, sensing, and identification continues to rise, and sensors are playing an increasingly critical role. Due to the diverse operating environments, sensors must exhibit excellent water and oil resistance and high-temperature stability. Furthermore, the trend toward miniaturization of equipment and limited space for peripheral connectors are forcing sensors to shrink in size, with some now less than half the size of a thumb. Implementing hardware and software functionality within such limited circuit board space presents significant challenges in miniaturizing and reducing the number of components used.

On the other hand, as consumable components, sensors require frequent manual replacement, and wiring errors caused by unskilled operation can easily cause short circuits and damage the circuitry. Therefore, integrated short-circuit protection circuitry is essential. However, strict PCB space constraints often limit engineers to a single passive component for protection. Therefore, a compact, inrush-insensitive resettable fuse (PPTC) becomes the preferred solution. Given that sensors typically operate within the 5-100mA current range, engineers generally choose resettable fuses in sizes 0603, 0805, and 1206, with current ratings between 50mA and 200mA and a withstand voltage of 24V to 60V.

Given the complexity of sensor applications, the requirements for built-in resettable fuses are stringent: resistance stability must be excellent after multiple soldering cycles; overcurrent protection must be fast enough to prevent damage to other components; resistance must not increase significantly during high-temperature operation; and withstand voltage must remain stable after the potting cures. To meet these stringent demands, Lu Te Technology has specially developed resettable fuse products suitable for this industry. Its characteristics are low resistance change rate after multiple welding and glue filling. At the same time, it has the advantages of low internal resistance, high temperature resistance, fast action and small resistance change after multiple protections. It can also provide customers with professional design references and reliable aging test data support.
